Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server systems, ensuring the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Database Performance Tuning and Optimization

Ensuring optimal database performance is crucial for maintaining efficient and reliable application operations, minimizing downtime, and providing a seamless user experience.

High Availability and Disaster Recovery

HA/DR skills are essential for ensuring database availability, data integrity, and business continuity in the event of hardware failures, data corruption, or other disasters.

Advanced SQL Server Security Management

Maintaining robust security is critical for protecting against data breaches, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and safeguarding the organization’s data assets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
  • Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
  • Provide 24×7 support for critical production systems and perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
  • Implement and oversee database policies to ensure data integrity, security, and availability.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented databases, procedures, and systems.


  • Proven experience as a SQL Server DBA or similar role.
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models.
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server.
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL statements.
  • Familiarity with SQL Server tools (e.g., Profiler, Management Studio).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
  • Knowledge of other database technologies (e.g., MySQL, Oracle) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
